A. CANDACE MARCUS received her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami. While in law school, Ms. Marcus served as President of the Health and Law Society, Chairperson of the Ethics Committee of Phi Alpha Delta, as an Ambassador in the Ambassador’s Program and as a member of the Maritime Law Society. During her tenure at the University of Miami, Ms. Marcus was selected as a Public Interest Fellow in the Summer Honors Program, and inducted into Bar and Gavel. In addition, throughout law school, Ms. Marcus practiced at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County as a Certified Legal Intern.

 

Following graduation, she became a member of the Juvenile Advocacy Project and was regularly appointed by the Court as Attorney Ad Litem to represent the interests of children. Ms. Marcus has served as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 company, where she practiced in the general health care arena, specializing in various areas including home health agency law, legislative compliance and employment law.

 

Ms. Marcus’ litigation expertise includes medical malpractice, personal injury, healthcare, automobile insurance and general insurance defense. Ms. Marcus is a Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Florida and Connecticut. She has an advanced degree in nursing and holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree from the University of Miami. She has nursing experience in multiple healthcare settings including general hospitals, home care, psychiatric hospitals, private practice and hospice care. She was one of the founding members of Hospice By the Sea, in Boca Raton, Florida where she also served as the Patient Care Coordinator.

 

She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society of Nursing, at the University of Miami, and as a charter member at Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Marcus has been included as a biographee in both Who’s Who in American Nursing and Who’s Who in American Women. Ms. Marcus is admitted to practice before the Florida Bar, the United States District Court, Southern District and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, The Florida Medical Malpractice Claims council, the Stephen R. Booher Inn of Court and she is a Fellow of the Florida Bar Foundation. She recently completed the requirements of the Florida Rules for Court Appointed Arbitrators, and has been qualified as an Arbitrator.
