CAROL L. FINKLEHOFFE received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami in 1994 and her B.S., magna cum laude, from Boston College in 1991. She is admitted to practice law in Florida, California and Massachusetts. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. Ms. Finklehoffe enjoys an “AV” rating from her peers, the highest level rating awarded to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell.

 

Ms. Finklehoffe has a wide array of general litigation and insurance defense experience. She has focused her practice on defending ship owners against claims brought by passengers and crew members in both Federal and State courts. Ms. Finklehoffe has also developed a specialty in investigating and defending sexual assault and wrongful death cases. In addition, she has significant expertise in cases involving catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice and complex tort litigation claims. Ms. Finklehoffe provides advice and assists port agents in matters relating to U.S. Customs and I.N.S. regulations.

Ms. Finklehoffe has also published legal articles on a variety of subjects which have appeared in different law reviews throughout the United States. Her presentations include the following: Traps and Pitfalls Under the New Medicare Lien Law, Maritime Law Association, Passenger and Cruise Line Committee, Hilton Head, SC, November 2009; Prosecuting and Defending Sexual Assaults, Maritime Law Association, Passenger and Cruise Line Committee, November 2008; Food Poisoning and Cruise Ships, Cruise Line International Association Legal & Insurance Seminar, Washington, D.C., July 20, 2007; Liability for Independent Contractors, Maritime Law Association, Passenger and Cruise Line Committee, May 2007; and The Effects of Medicare/Medicaid on Settlements, UK P&I Club Bodily Injury Team Conference, November 2005. In addition, Ms. Finklehoffe is a member of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association, the Cruise Line International Association, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.
